The Indian rupee is the official currency of the Republic of India. The modern rupee is subdivided into 100 paise (singular paisa). Bank notes are available in nominal values of 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 500 and 1000 rupees. Coins of the rupee are available in 1, 2, 5 and 10. Paise coins of the rupee have nominal values of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 25 and 50.

    रुपये (rupaye) in Marathi,
ರೂಪಾಯಿ (rūpāyi) in Kannada and Tulu,
ਰੁਪਈਆ (rupiā) in Punjabi,
రూపాయి (rūpāyi) in Telugu,
ரூபாய் (rūbāi) in Tamil,
રૂપિયો (rupiyo) in Gujarati,
रूपैयाँ(rupaiyaN) in Nepali and
രൂപ (rūpā) in Malayalam.
টাকা (taka) in Bengali.

However in some regions, the Indian rupee is known by names derived from the word टङ्क (Tanka) which means money. Thus, the rupee is called টকা (tôka) in Assamese, টাকা (Taka) in Bengali and ଟଙ୍କା (Tanka) in Oriya. The amount and the word “rupee” is accordingly written on Indian banknotes in several Indian languages.

ECN is an acronym for Electronic Communications Network. A Forex ECN broker doesn’t have a dealing desk but instead provides a marketplace where multiple market makers and traders can enter in competing bids and offers into the platform and have their trades filled by multiple liquidity providers in an anonymous trading environment. The trades are done in the name of your ECN broker, thereby providing you with complete anonymity. A trader might have their buy order filled by liquidity provider, and close the same order against liquidity provider, or have their trade matched internally by the bid or offer of another trader. The best bid and offer is displayed to the trader along with the market depth which is the combined volume available at each price. A greater number of marketplace participants providing pricing to the ECN broker leads to tighter spreads. ECN’s charge a small fee for matching trades between their clients and liquidity providers.

The market maker provides liquidity and pricing for a pair of specific funding and stands ready to buy or sell money at the price quoted. The market maker takes the opposite side of your trade and has chosen to either hold office or partially or fully offset with other participants of the market, controlling their exposure to total clients. If a market maker chooses to keep the position the trader has not been offset in the market, the trader’s profit accounts would be lost and the market maker otherwise, leading to potential conflicts of interest between the trader and market maker . The market maker will earn their commission from the spread between the bid price and offer.

A spot transaction is generally due for settlement within two business day (value date). The cost of rolling over a transaction based on the interest rate difference between the two funds in a transaction. If you are long (bought) the money with a higher rate of interest you will earn interest. If you are short (sell) the money with a higher rate of interest you will pay interest. Most brokers will automatically roll over your positions open that allows you to maintain your position indefinitely.
